Volkswagen Scirocco – Something Special from VW
Unfortunately every coupe style car in the Volkswagen range will ultimately be compared to the VW Golf, which has become the main focal point of the company. This seems to have been the reality of the situation for quite some time but maybe, just maybe, things are about to change. The all new Volkswagen Scirocco has recently come onto the scene and already it is the talk of the industry for many people. Its unique style means that it is very much a stand out vehicle from Volkswagen and there are plenty of comparisons being made with the new and used Volkswagen Golf. The new Scirocco is a three door sports car that has been part of two previous generations, which started in 1974 and 1992. So in that sense it has had a good break from the market and has now kind of reinvented itself and became more modern. Its squashed design seemingly looks like a VW Golf that has been shortened in height but increased in style. Yes folks you did read that correctly the new Scirocco is a car that is definitely more stylish than the Golf, which for ease of description, can be classed as being quite simple. Effective and a remarkable vehicle nonetheless, the Golf is what it is and has made itself a huge success. However, the Scirocco is very different and provides a feel of the future thanks to its outer shell design and updated interior. It also comes available in eight different engines, which makes it a relevant purchase for a wide variety of different drivers.
Vauxhall Antara – Delivering New Innovations
Vauxhall is a company that seems to have been around forever. For so long they have been quietly going about their business with minimal fuss and have continuously managed to deliver cutting edge vehicles that have become firm favourites in the world of automotive. One of their latest conquests, the Vauxhall Antara, highlights a number of new innovations that are bound to have other manufacturers asking “how”? The new and used Vauxhall Antara contains a range of special chassis control features that enable the driver to receive a true and accurate response to their driving style. The Antara is an all wheel drive vehicle, which is electronically controlled and delivers an outstanding performance regardless of weather and road conditions. The vehicle also contains an incline descent control system, which enables the Antara to maintain a certain speed when going downhill; just perfect for those off road enthusiasts! Other innovations included in this particular Vauxhall car include electronic driving systems and trailer stability and level-ride suspension. The electronic driving systems are extremely interesting and include hydraulic brake assistance, ESP and even cornering brake control, which seems to be the newest feature available. All in all then the Vauxhall Antara is very much a stand out vehicle and therefore does not have an official direct competitor. It seems that Vauxhall have done it again and managed to produce and manufacture a car that once again sets new standards from the way it looks to the way that it performs.
Smart ForTwo Brabus Coupe and Cabriolet
Most people associate the ForTwo Coupe with new and used Smart cars, which is an accurate enough assumption given that it is often the most talked about unit in the Smart range. However, the Brabus Coupe / Cabriolet are another variant of the ForTwo, which for some reason or another often seems to go unnoticed. Maybe it is because this particular model is a joint venture between Smart and BRABUS GmbH? Who knows – but it is definitely worth a closer look..... The Smart Brabus models offer a sportier exhaust tuning, suspension and chassis when compared to the original used Smart ForTwo Coupe or Cabriolet. The view of the Brabus is indeed to provide a sportier car all round, which is achieved by the above and other elements such as the choice of alloy wheels and overall driving performance. Some of the materials used in the car also mark improvements on the original model; stainless steel, aluminium and quality leather are all used throughout, which really does add to the overall effect of the unit. As for the engine contained within, well naturally this offers a sportier performance through the three cylinder petrol engine, which has a five speed gearbox producing 70 hp through the DOHC 12 valve setup. However, like with all new and used Smart cars, safety is of a high priority and the Brabus certainly follows suit. ESP, crash absorbing boxes, airbags and safety seats all make for a safe and secure journey, which means that drivers are left to concentrate on the road ahead.
The Jaguar R Collection – Even More Luxury
If you thought that the Jaguar XF and XK couldn’t become any more luxurious then you were very much incorrect in your assumption! Step forwards Jaguar’s new R Collection; the XFR and XKR. Using the Jaguar XFR as an example, this has been awarded some of the following spec; 5.0 litre V8 supercharged engine, R exterior frame that comes with a unique front bumper and black grille and a body coloured rear spoiler, 20 inch alloy wheels, R interior, 320 watt sound system, heated front windscreen, navigation system, and even red brake callipers. To make the Jaguar XFR even more unique, there is also many other customisable accessories and features that can be purchased as additional options as well. Similarly impressive offerings are available with the XKR but in my personal opinion it is the XFR that stands out that little bit more in the Jaguar R Collection. The used Jaguar XF as many readers will know was a true revolution for Jaguar and has won many notable awards since it was first released. Now though, Jaguar have taken things to another level with the XF and introduced the R Collection to further enhance the XF’s credentials. Not that it need any improvements but the added features that come with the XFR are truly brilliant and provide an array of added bonuses to a car that already has everything. For Jaguar enthusiasts this R Collection will no doubt be a welcomed additional to an already glowing range of cars; to the competition though, they too will certainly be taking note, albeit in a much different way.
Porsche Cayman – Simply Astonishing
For so long it has been the 911 model that has dominated the Porsche range as it has gone on to become the flagship vehicle of the company. The 911’s presence and popularity is unquestionable but it has done so much more than just being a best seller. It has provided the foundation for other Porsche cars in terms of design and style, and the Porsche Cayman is one that has certainly followed in its footsteps. From the outside you could say that there is very little difference between the used Porsche 911 and the Cayman. The only real noticeable difference is the back window, which has been extensively extended on the Cayman model. To those non familiar with the Cayman design, this back window is similar in style to that of the new shape Audi TT. Performance-wise is where the majority of the differences take place and is one of the main reasons for the Cayman being in a different price bracket to that of the 911. Let’s get one thing perfectly clear though – both vehicles offer a truly outstanding performance and are very much at the top end of the “most wanted” list! After all, the Cayman and the 911 are built by Porsche; who perhaps are one of only a small minority of companies whose cars can actually increase in value after being sold. No doubt that this is what so many other car manufacturers would love to have as part of their offerings; sadly though, it is only the premium of premium brands that can boast of such advantages. The Cayman then has so much to offer and its sloping rear window is its main unique feature; so if you do so happen to see a 911 and a Cayman side by side, look to the rear of the vehicle for the main area of distinction.
